CommitteesThe Downtown Oakville BIA has several committees working under the Board of Management. They are responsible for the following areas: Beautification; Events; Marketing; Parking; Social; and Sponsorship. Task forces and sub-committees may also be set up from time to time to accomplish specific tasks. Certain committees or sub-committees may have non-BIA members who are in advisory positions or willing to help out on specific projects. Board Of Management
Beautification"To enhance the beauty of the downtown core, the Beautification Committee is committed to working towards a clean and beautiful downtown." The Beautification committee meets on a regular basis and is responsible for the areas of streetscape, garbage removal and receptacles, benches, flowers, Christmas wreaths, and the white lights program. The members are as follows:
EventsThe Events committee is responsible for the organization, logistics, staging, hiring and supervision of all of the Downtown Oakville events that are produced by the BIA. As well they interact with other parties who may be using the Downtown area as a venue, and the Marketing Committee. The Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival is produced by the Jazz Festival committee. The members are as follows:
MarketingThe Marketing Committee is responsible for marketing Downtown Oakville as a destination. They are responsible for all advertising including print, radio and other media, the production of the newspaper "Our Town...Downtown", and The Downtown Oakville Directory. They are also responsible for marketing and promoting all of the events produced by the BIA. This committee does market surveys, tracks demographics, identifies target markets, and creates marketing initiatives to access those markets. The members are as follows:
Parking"The BIA through the Parking Committee is committed to providing
convenient affordable parking for both employees and visitors in Downtown
Oakville." The members are as follows:
SocialThe Social Committee organizes special reception and networking events for owners and employees in Downtown Oakville. These functions are usually held in a Downtown business establishment on a quarterly basis and are often used as an introduction for Downtown members to new businesses locating within the BIA jurisdiction. They may also be used as fundraising events for special initiatives. The members are as follows:
SponsorshipThe Sponsorship Committee is responsible for identifying and packaging opportunities that may be of interest to businesses as a vehicle for promotion. Events like Midnight Madness and the Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival attract large crowds that afford an opportunity to support cultural events. We are committed to funding a large portion of the BIA annual budget by supplying a superior promotional opportunity to our partners and sponsors. Jazz FestivalThe Jazz Festival Committee is responsible for the overall look and feel of the event, reviewing artists submissions, contacting, hiring and contracting with performers, and suppliers and interacting with the Marketing Committee as well as other parties with interests in the event. Our Town DowntownThe Our Town Downtown committee is responsible for the publication of Downtown Oakville's popular publication. The members are as follows:
