2012 Ride Club Membership Required + Pursuit Series Starts Wednesday

Racer Sportif Club Rides is a membership based program providing camaraderie and organized training for cyclists who want to stay in shape, race, or aspire to race in diverse specialties. Did you know our riders are world class duathletes, celebrated triathletes and of course accomplished racing cyclists and coaches.

As a Club, we support the Ontario Cycling Association and maintain membership for each rider ensuring our roster of club members carries the appropriate insurance that comes with the OCA registration. This keeps us compliant with registered Cycling Club guidelines and as a member you are reassured that the other riders in your group all carry the required insurance protecting themselves and the group as a whole.

The OCA has reminded us that all clubs need to be diligent to ensure everyone that comes out for their member events is compliant. Liability is a real concern and willful negligence is not an option. The weather is getting warmer and with more riders showing up for group rides we are going to insist that all new and returning riders become 2012 members. Without making this awkward, if you want to ride with us you need to join. We are asking riders from this point forward to join the 2012 Club if you already have not.

We are excited about the 2012 Club season, and the new Pursuit Series starting this Wednesday evening. New Club Leaders are joining our expanding Femme Sportif program, so look forward to more news about this shortly.

Wednesday night Pursuit Series - Starts this Wednesday April 18

If we assume three groups and three average speeds [30, 35+, 40+ km/h] and base the pursuit on four laps, with the following estimated times and gaps calculated.

For Group 1 time to complete - 42 minutes
For Group 2 time to complete - 34 minutes
For Group 3 time to complete - 28 minutes

The 40kph group will go first. The 30kph group goes 2nd, and the intermediary group goes last.

The 30kph group will start 1 minute behind the 40kph group, the 35kph group will start 4 minutes after the 30kph group.

The goal of the fastest group is to lap the slowest group. The intermediary group's goal is to try and catch the slow group, while not being caught by the fastest group. The goal of the slowest group is to try and not get lapped and to work as a unit as best as possible to lengthen the time each week that they would get lapped by the fast group.

Based on this format, we should have limited wait on start times, fun for all skill levels, and mass finish amongst the different groups, so that we can all ride home together.
