A Taste of Oakville ends Wednesday, March 4, so if you haven’t checked out the prix-fixe menus at participating restaurants, hurry up and make your reservations today!
Downtown Oakville has plenty of fine dining establishments for when you’re feeling fancy, but it’s not all white tablecloths and finery. For our final Taste of Oakville Friday Five, we’re profiling five restaurants with a laid back vibe, where you can catch up with friends over comfort food and drinks.
Bru Restaurant Bru has become one of Downtown Oakville’s top nightlife spots thanks to its craft beer menu, live music on weekends, and famous “Bru Burger” (which is basically a gourmet Big Mac). Grab a pint and enjoy their Taste of Oakville menu this weekend – we recommend the chorizo corn dog appetizer, crispy pork belly main (pictured above) and owner Tammy Weiss’ famous homemade brownie for dessert.

Mo’s Kitchen & Tavern Mo’s has become somewhat of an Oakville legend thanks to its enormous portions of home cooked comfort foods. If you’re looking for a hearty meal that’ll stick to your ribs, their Taste of Oakville lunch and dinner menus won’t disappoint. Mains include beef stew and chicken cordon bleu for dinner and fish and chips and baked penne primavera for lunch.

One Five One Social With its intimate vibe, rotating chalk board menu and killer cocktail list, One Five One Social offers a fun hangout spot with the same high-quality, home-style Italian cuisine that made its sister restaurant Bucca di Baco famous. Their Taste of Oakville dinner menu features lamb spiedini or sicilian salad to start, wild boar gnocchi (pictured below) or salmon for your main, and a nutella brownie donut for dessert.

The King’s Arms Another popular spot with the late-night crowd, The King’s Arms offers a modern twist on the traditional English pub, with a creative menu that goes way beyond your typical pub fare and an upstairs lounge, The Lion’s Den, that’s a nod to 80s hip hop culture with graffiti and images of the era’s top emcees adorning the walls. Their Taste of Oakville menus offer a selection of dishes from around the world, including gyoza dumplings, bulgogi short ribs, chicken schnitzel and ahi tuna tacos (pictured below).

The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro Kick back with retro music, ice cold beer and some of the best burgers in town at this popular burger joint. Their Taste of Oakville menu is perfect for a night out with friends or family. Choose one appetizer – either their famous tower o’rings or mouthwatering spinach dip – to share, then choose from one of their classic burger creations for your main. Pictured below is the Bacon, You Fancy, Huh? – a cult classic topped with aged white cheddar, thick cut maple bacon, bacon roasted tomatoes, arugula and mayo. For dessert, enjoy one of their decadent milkshakes.
