With A Taste of Oakville (February 19-March 4) right around the corner, we’ll be profiling participating restaurants over the next three editions of Friday Five. In this week’s edition, we’re spicing things up with 5 international flavours you can sample during A Taste of Oakville:
Spanish Enjoy Spanish cuisine like the classic paella pictured above in Corks’ newly renovated dining room. Their Taste dinner menu also features eggplant parmesan, salmon bouillabaisse and New Zealand baby lamb chops, plus an assortment of appetizers. Finish your meal with Crème Caramel, a traditional Spanish dessert.
Indian If you love Indian food, be sure to check out both Coriander Green and TYC during A Taste of Oakville. Both restaurants are offering up a selection of traditional Indian appetizers, curries and desserts. Pictured below is Coriander Green’s chicken tikka appetizer – tender pieces of chicken marinated in Chef Harminder’s special spice blend and slow-cooked in a tandoor oven.
Greek Oakville’s longest-running Greek restaurant, Colossus is famous for its flavourful Greek cuisine and Santorini-inspired décor. Their Taste of Oakville menu is packed with traditional Greek appetizers and entrees like giourvalakia (lemon soup with ground beef and rice meatballs), kounoupidi (fried cauliflower topped with Greek honey and feta), arni gemisto (roast leg of lamb stuffed with spinach, feta and walnuts – pictured below), moussaka and so much more.

Italian With 151 Social, Borgo Antico, Buca di Bacco and Piazza all participating in A Taste of Oakville, you can experience the best of Italian cuisine right here in Downtown Oakville. Pictured here is the chicken parmigiana from Piazza’s dinner menu.
Other features we’re excited to try include the tagliata di manzo (seared sliced steak served with roasted potato, caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms) from Borgo Antico; the zuppa di pesce (mussels, calamari, shrimp, scallops and cod in a tomato broth – pictured below) from Buca di Bacco; and the wild boar gnocchi from 151 Social.
Middle Eastern Dar Nabati is Oakville’s only vegan, gluten-free Middle Eastern restaurant, making it a popular lunch spot for health conscious foodies in the GTA. Whether you have dietary restrictions or not, you’ll love their Taste of Oakville dinner menu, which features a garden salad, moussaka, and a warm, decadent brownie topped with a cashew-based, dairy-free ice cream.
