Oakville’s Downtown Business Improvement Area (BIA) and local businesses have kicked off the season with the launch of Hometown Holiday This multi-day event is taking place in Downtown Oakville, featuring contests, giveaways, games and festive activities.
“After another challenging year, we’re grateful to be able to spread some cheer with the launch of Hometown Holiday,” said Adrienne Gordon, Executive Director, Downtown Oakville BIA. “Our hope is to bring people together downtown with a variety of holiday-inspired events for all ages. It’s a great opportunity to support local businesses and safely celebrate the season with friends and loved ones.”

Holiday Lighting Installations
The winter wonderland of lights at Navy Street and Lakeshore Road and the 30-foot ribbon tree in Towne Square will transform downtown Oakville into an Instagram-worthy holiday destination.

The Augmented Reality Holiday Hunt
The Augmented Reality Holiday Hunt is this year’s signature experience. Participants of all ages can explore the streets of the downtown core while on an augmented reality scavenger hunt. Collect eight festive characters for the chance to win $1,000.
To bring the Holiday Hunt to life, the BIA worked closely with Aircards, a U.K. based developer specializing in web-based Augmented Reality. As of Nov. 20, participants can scan the QR code on display in front of the library and Towne Square or visit DTOakvillehunt.com to begin their adventure.

Support local this Black Friday through Cyber Monday for an opportunity to win your purchase. Spend $25 or more at your favourite downtown business and scan a QR code for your chance to win.
12 Days of Gift-aways – Dec. 1 - 12
The BIA is showcasing specialty boxes filled with items from downtown merchants for 12 days on Instagram. Follow us @oakvilledowntown for personalized gift ideas and a chance to win the daily gift-away.
Holiday Happy Hour – Dec. 3, 10, 17 - 4 - 8 p.m.
