Friday Five: Navy Street Edition

If you’re a regular visitor to Downtown Oakville, you’re probably aware that Navy Street between Robinson and Church Streets has been closed to vehicle traffic for most of July as part of the Lakeshore Road Revitalization Project (click here for the latest project updates).

This stretch of Navy is expected to reopen July 31, but in the meantime, you can still access all of your favourite stores and restaurants in the area on foot (and, if you need help crossing the intersection, ask one of our friendly pedestrian ambassadors for assistance).

Here are five good reasons to check out this block of Downtown Oakville:

Paradiso Restaurant – 125 Lakeshore Road East  There might be construction nearby, but you’d never know it while dining on Paradiso’s patio. With their striped awnings, overhead string lights and Mediterranean-inspired menu, you’ll be transported right to the streets of Europe while enjoying your meal (pictured below are the butternut squash ravioli, crab cake salad and freshly-baked focaccia bread).

Civello Salon – 145 Lakeshore Road East Located a few doors down from Dove + Arrow, Civello is known for being a leading salon and spa in Oakville, but did you know it’s also a retail store? Stop by to browse their extensive collection of hair and skincare products and get ready to have your best hair day ever. As a bonus, with their new Summer Solutions promotion, you can get a free Summer Essential product with the purchase of 3 full-size products. Learn more here

Sugar Suite – 156 Lakeshore Road East If you’ve been looking for delicious gluten-free cupcakes that taste just like the real deal, look no further than Sugar Suite Cakes, located just across the street (you can cross at Thomas). This allergen-free bakery also offers vegan and reduced-sugar options, so next time you’re planning a party where your guests have multiple dietary restrictions, you’ll want to have them on speed dial (did we mention they also make gorgeous custom-made cakes?). Even if you can eat everything, you’ll still want to try the almost-too-pretty-to-eat creations here.

See, we promised you it was worth the trip! For more Downtown Oakville businesses you can discover this weekend, click here to view our full member directory.
