Calling all dog lovers! Downtown Oakville is gearing up for the highly anticipated Tails and Treats event, happening on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better, with a fantastic lineup of activities for our furry friends and their owners. Whether you're a pet parent, dog enthusiast, or just love to support local causes, Tails and Treats has something for everyone. Plus, it’s all in support of a great cause—the Oakville & Milton Humane Society!
Here’s a sneak peek of what you can expect at this year’s event:
Costume Contest
Let your pups strut their stuff in the ultimate Costume Contest! This year, we’re encouraging participants to pre-register to help manage the growing number of entries. With a $10 entry fee (100% donated to the Humane Society), every dog will receive a prize just for taking part! The top three dogs will walk away with Downtown Oakville Gift Cards, valued at up to $250. And the fun doesn’t stop there—Rosehaven Homes, this year’s official sponsor, will be judging the contest and deciding which pups take home the crown.
Pup-Up Marketplace
Shopping for your pet has never been easier! The Pup-Up Marketplace on George Street will feature a variety of local vendors offering premium pet products, treats, toys, and accessories. It’s the perfect spot to spoil your dog with something special or discover a new local brand you love.
Dog Yoga
Who says yoga is just for humans? Take some time to unwind with your pet at our Dog Yoga session hosted by YogaKawa! This unique, pet-friendly yoga class is a great way to relax, bond with your dog, and meet other like-minded pet owners. Tickets are available for $15, but spots are limited, so make sure to reserve yours early!
Pumpkin Picking
Embrace the fall season by picking up some festive pumpkins from participating shops around Downtown Oakville. Whether you’re getting ready to carve your Halloween masterpiece or just want to add a little seasonal charm to your home, our Urban Pumpkin Patch in Towne Square.
Barks & Bubbles at Figaro Coffee House
Join us at Figaro Coffee House for the ultimate Bacon Bubble Dance Party! Your dog can groove to the beats while chasing bacon-flavoured bubbles. It’s a guaranteed hit with your pup, and don’t forget to make a tap donation to support the Oakville Humane Society while you're there!
Paw-Casso Pop-Up
Let your dog channel their inner artist at the Paw-Casso Pop-Up, hosted by CrackPot Studio and Summer & Grace Gallery where your pup can create their very own paw print masterpiece on pottery. It’s a fun, creative way to commemorate the day and leave with a unique keepsake.
Custom Bandana Making
Stop by Towne Square during our Tails and Treats event to visit Butter & Jo Handmade and make your pup a custom creation on the spot.
