National Hot Chocolate Day | Friday Five

Today is National Hot Chocolate Day and, to celebrate, we took a tour of some of Downtown Oakville’s top spots for a warm cup of cocoa. From whipped cream and marshmallows to specialty flavours and even keto-friendly options, #DTOakville has it all:

Bean There Café – 106 Reynolds Street This beloved Downtown Oakville cafe just celebrated its 25-year anniversary earlier this month, making it the perfect first stop on our hot chocolate tour. Topped with whipped cream, chocolate syrup and chocolate shavings, their decadent hot chocolate (pictured above) will warm your spirits – and satisfy your sweet tooth – on a cold winter day.

Tribeca Coffee Co – 174 Lakeshore Road East Even if you’re on the keto diet, you can still celebrate National Hot Chocolate Day thanks to Tribeca’s keto-friendly Chocolate Bomb. Made with espresso, MCT oil, grass-fed butter, cocoa powder and sugar-free vanilla syrup, this rich drink will give you an instant energy boost.

Second Cup Coffee Co – 245 Lakeshore Road East Second Cup’s Make it Maple collection includes the decadent Maple White Hot Chocolate (available for $2.95 today and tomorrow). Creamy white chocolate and maple flavour combine to create a drink that tastes just like maple fudge, topped with whipped cream and pure maple sugar. Oh Canada, baby!

Aroma Espresso Bar – 321 Lakeshore Road East Aroma’s hot chocolate is made with steamed milk poured over a handful of their signature milk chocolate pralines, topped with cocoa powder and three giant marshmallows. Enjoy the rich, creamy texture as the marshmallows begin to melt.

Starbucks – 225 Lakeshore Road East Starbucks has a whole menu’s worth of hot chocolate selections. Choose from classic, white, salted caramel, peppermint or peppermint white.
