Welcome to the Neighbourhood: Country Road of Canada

Whether you’re planning a quaint family picnic or an all-day fishing trip with friends, decorating your cottage or seeking out the perfect Christmas gift, Downtown Oakville’s newest lifestyle store, Country Road of Canada (133 Lakeshore Road East), is a must-visit destination.

“It’s all about country living at its best,” says co-owner Donna. The store was originally founded by her husband, Robin, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, as a men’s lifestyle store catering to outdoorsmen.

Since bringing Donna into the fold and relocating to Downtown Oakville, the store has added women’s products as well as home décor and gifts to its selection. With their combined retail experience (Donna previously operated a women’s swimwear store in Oakville for many years), the husband-and-wife team are bringing luxury living to the heart of Downtown Oakville.

“We try to cater to a higher-end clientele that is looking for the best in luxury living,” says Donna. “It’s all about timeless treasures that will last forever.” Customers can find high-quality outdoor apparel like hand-knit Aran sweaters from Ireland, Muck Boots and cashmere scarves, as well as home décor and gourmet foods.

Many products are sourced from overseas, like the Rathbornes line of bath and body products from Dublin (for which Country Road has the exclusive rights to in Canada), or the iconic picnic hampers sold at Fortnum & Mason in England.

Donna is excited to bring the store to Downtown Oakville, a place she’s loved since she moved to the Toronto area from Vancouver 25 years ago. On their many trips to Niagara-on-the-Lake, she recalls asking her husband to exit the highway so that they could drive through Downtown Oakville. “I could never get enough because it was just so beautiful. It had a lovely heritage feel to it that I love.”

Country Road of Canada will be celebrating its grand opening on November 15 to coincide with the Tree Lighting Ceremony in Downtown Oakville. From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., customers are invited to enjoy appetizers and treats while they explore the store. “It’s an opportunity for us to meet people and say thank you for supporting Downtown Oakville, and to let people know we’re here – come on in and check us out.”
