Beginning in October 2021, about 1,200 parking sensors will be installed in downtown Oakville streets and parking lots to better manage parking. Will you be stocking your shelves for Diwali? Diwali falls on November 4 this year, and the shopping season will be underway soon. Known as the “festival of lights", Diwali symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance”. It is the largest community festival and celebration of culture and heritage in India and is celebrated around the world. It’s a time for everyone to convey wishes and love to near and dear ones with Diwali Gifts. In fact, Diwali is one of the most important holidays among Indo-Canadians, giving Canadian Companies a huge opportunity to build a rapport with one of the largest and fastest growing cultural groups in Canada. Decorative items, sweets, chocolate, cake and dried fruit, hampers, silver and jewelry are popular gift items. So, will you be stocking your shelves for Diwali? According to Environics, "95% of Indian Canadians made a specific shopping trip in preparation for Diwali". We are preparing a blog in late October to promote how Downtown is a one-stop-shop. If you have or are planning to promote gift ideas, please email them to skay@oakvilledowntown.com and you could be featured in the blog. Learn More about Diwali |
